Commonwealth Care Alliance Update
CCA’s Acquisition by Care Source Resolves Financial Uncertainty, But Claims Issues Persist for Some Providers
As was reported last month, Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) was acquired by Care Source in April. This transaction brought the financial uncertainty plaguing CCA, its contracting health care providers, and insured members to an end. CCA has resumed enrollment into health plans, after having paused enrollment since last fall. This expansion for Care Source means it will be operating in 3 states now. CCA will keep its name in Massachusetts and CCA staff has assured stakeholders that there are no projected changes to its system this year. However, CCA acknowledged that some certified home health agencies have experienced hiccups and confusion with claims edits triggering denials. CCA believes that the Care Source system will be better for providers in the long-term but acknowledged these issues through this transition. CCA is attempting to address this through clearer communication and policies for different service-types. Please inform Jake Krilovich if your agency is experiencing any issues.
