Volunteers Needed for Power Wheelchair Research Study

Volunteers Needed for Power Wheelchair Research Study

Help Improve the Safety and Usability of Mobility Equipment

A team of Northeastern University researchers is inviting volunteers to take part in a power wheelchair usability study designed to help improve the safety and ease of use of mobility equipment for individuals who rely on it every day.

Participants will have the opportunity to test a newly developed three-wheeled power wheelchair equipped with advanced features such as joystick control, Wall Guard Assist (collision avoidance), Auto-Docking for charging, and Bluetooth Remote Control.

During the supervised one-hour session—conducted in both an indoor setting and an outdoor environment—participants will review training materials such as the user manual and labeling before using the wheelchair. The goal is to ensure the provided information is clear, complete, and helps users operate the chair safely and confidently. A trained facilitator will guide the process, answer questions, and collect participant feedback through a short questionnaire at the end of the test.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to innovation in mobility and accessibility while helping improve future products for individuals who depend on power wheelchairs every day.

Who Can Participate:

  • Individuals 15 to 70 years old
  • Those who use or need a power wheelchair for indoor and outdoor mobility
  • Able to read and understand English
  • Familiar with smartphone operation

Compensation:
Participants will receive $200 for completing the session.

Your insight and experience can make a meaningful difference. If you or someone you know is interested, please review the flyer below for full details and sign-up information.
