VA Community Care Network Seeks Home Care Support in Key Massachusetts Regions

Opportunities available to support veterans through in-home care partnerships with the VA

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) continues to expand access to care through its Community Care Network (CCN) and is actively seeking qualified home care providers in several Massachusetts counties where veteran need remains strong.

While much of the Commonwealth is currently well served, there are specific regions where additional provider capacity is needed. At this time, the following Massachusetts counties are open for new CCN applications:

  • Barnstable
  • Berkshire
  • Bristol
  • Dukes
  • Franklin
  • Hampshire
  • Nantucket

In these areas, the VA is focused on ensuring timely access to in-home services for veterans who rely on community-based providers to remain safe and supported at home.

Other parts of the state are temporarily saturated and operating under a managed waitlist administered by Optum (the CCN administrator for Massachusetts). This reflects strong provider participation to date, as well as ongoing monitoring to align network capacity with veteran demand.

There are also limited pathways for consideration outside of open counties in certain circumstances—such as veteran-owned agencies or when a local VA Medical Center identifies a documented access gap. These situations are evaluated case by case.

For agencies able to serve the counties listed above, this represents a meaningful opportunity to support veterans, partner with the VA, and expand access to high-quality home-based care where it is most needed.

Note: Network status can change as veteran demand and regional capacity shifts. If you’re exploring CCN participation, be sure to confirm current availability and requirements during the application process.
