Proposed Prior Authorization Changes
Proposed Prior Authorization Changes
Public hearing February 19 — HCA preparing comments and seeking agency feedback
In late January, we informed members that the Division of Insurance is proposing regulatory amendments regarding prior authorization (PA). The Healey administration's aim is to streamline prior authorization practices and eliminating some requirements for essential or routine services.
The proposed changes do include a prohibition on prior authorization requirements for post-acute care services provided on weekends or holidays to insured persons within the network. However, we believe there are additional opportunities to eliminate or prohibit PA requirements for certain home-based services.
A public hearing will be held next week on February 19th. The Home Care Alliance is finalizing written comments for this hearing and we are asking members to complete this brief 6-question survey to provide feedback and help inform our efforts.
