Planning Ahead for the Next Winter Emergency

Emergency preparedness resources to help agencies document storm response and strengthen readiness

Care Doesn’t Stop for the Weather

Another major winter storm is moving across the region, and once again home care professionals are keeping older adults and vulnerable individuals safe in the setting of their choice.

We’re grateful for the work happening in homes every day—often under difficult conditions. If your team is out there caring through the storm, we’d love to share your story. Send us short clips or photos, or tag us on social media using #thinkhomecare.

In light of the recent snowstorm, and another one coming this weekend, HCA has two emergency preparedness tools in the Member Hub under Resources to support your documentation efforts. These include a Severe Winter Storm EP Tip Sheet and an After-Action Report (AAR) template to help agencies capture real-world plan activation, patient care decisions, and lessons learned. Even partial activation should be documented, and completing this now will support DPH and accreditation expectations.

In addition, HCA is also sharing a separate free Emergency Preparedness Plan Training offered by Nevvon, an Allied Business Partner. This self-paced training provides practical guidance agencies can use immediately to strengthen readiness for future emergencies.
