Over 159 Organizations Call on Congressional to Stop Home Health Rate Cut

Advocates Urge Congress to Stop Historic Home Health Rate Cuts

Over 150 organizations including HCA, called on Congress to prevent what would be the largest rate cut ever for home health providers. The letter, led by the National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance) and LeadingAge, said that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has destabilized the home health program and called on congressional leaders to intervene. The letter was also addressed to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

The final rule release date usually is released around the end of October, early November, but with the current government shutdown, we expect the final rule release to be delayed. Since the proposed rule was released, lawmakers have introduced a legislation that would pause cuts to the Medicare home health reimbursement rate for 2026 and 2027. You can use this ACTION ALERT to write to your member of Congress to urge them to support this pivotal piece of legislation.
