In June, following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it was terminating parole processes for individuals who came to the United States under a 2023 CHNV (Cuba, Haiti, Nicuragua, Venezuela) Parole Program. DHS issued notices to over 500,000 individuals under this program notifying them that unless they secured permanent status or have an otherwise lawful basis to remain in the U.S., they must return their work authorization documents to the U.S. and depart the country.   

These actions have potential impacts to employers across several industries, including the Care at Home industry. The Alliance has heard from a handful of members who have had employees receive these notices, and lose their work authorization - resulting in employment termination. HCA is continuing to monitor this and all immigration issues, and will continue to inform members. We also encourage you to consult with your legal counsel, and monitor DHS/U.S.CIS guidance to ensure you are compliant with requirements.
