As we watch the news of a prolonged federal shutdown and feel uncertainty pressing in from every side, it’s natural to feel uneasy—even a little fearful. But someone reminded me recently, we’ve been here before.
There will be no shortage of political analysts speculating on the latest federal government shutdown negotiations. And certainly, no shortage of political figures playing the blame game.
Almost immediately, chaos reverberated across our industry with confusing and conflicting guidance issued by MassHealth regarding telehealth usage. And separate from MassHealth, the lapse in telehealth flexibilities has raised all sorts of questions regarding what is allowed or not allowed.
This proves that regardless of blame, funding our government in 6 month increments is inefficient and bad for the patients we serve.
