Alliance Speaks Out: Immigration Policy Change Deepens Home Care Staffing Crisis in Massachusetts
Short-staffing jeopardizes patient safety and increases costs, leaving agencies scrambling and families without essential care. If your agency has been affected, share your story with Jake Krilovich to advocate for solutions
Yesterday on WGBH Alliance Executive Director Jake Krilovich warned that the sudden end of the CHNV parole program is putting patients at risk. “Short staffing puts people at risk from falls or complications from chronic disease…, it strains our health care system. It is more costly when people are admitted to the hospital,” he said.
This problem isn’t going away. Skilled, compassionate caregivers — many of whom came here legally, followed every rule, and trained in our field — are losing their work permits overnight. Agencies are scrambling, patients are at risk, and families are losing care they rely on.
If your agency has been affected, please tell your story.
Contact Jake so we can bring real experiences to policymakers and push for solutions that restore work authorization for these vital workers.
