Advocates mobilize at the State House—now providers must carry the momentum forward
A strong showing at this week’s advocacy day underscored growing urgency around home care standards. With the Senate now holding the next move, provider voices are critical.
This week, the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter brought advocates together at their State House advocacy day, elevating a clear message: families need consistent, reliable standards for care at home. Their call for passage of S.2555 aligns directly with what we see every day—without clear standards, families are left to navigate uncertainty at the most vulnerable moments.
This is what community action looks like—and it’s working. But momentum only matters if it continues.

The House has acted. The Senate is now the focus. This is the stage where legislation either advances—or stalls.
What to Do This Week
Call Your State Senator
Identify yourself and your organization. Ask them directly to support and advance home care licensure (S.2555) this session. Ask where they stand.
Request a Brief Meeting
Even 15–20 minutes is enough. Share what you are seeing—clients, workforce, and operations. Keep it real and direct.
Submit a Letter to the Editor
Local papers matter. They are read by legislators and their staff. Keep it short, local, and grounded in real experience.
A strong example comes from Gladys Ohene. Use it as a reference—but write in your own voice.
Reinforce Your Message Publicly
Share your letter or perspective on social media. Tag your State Senator. Visibility reinforces pressure.
We are close—but without Senate action, this does not move forward this year. This is the window.
