Providers flag mounting strain across reimbursement, workforce, and compliance

From the Field: What Providers Are Facing Now—and What Comes Next |
Nearly 100 members joined us across two locations for last week’s Regional Member Meetings, and the message was consistent: providers are operating under growing pressure across reimbursement, workforce, and regulatory fronts. Agencies shared ongoing challenges with billing and authorizations, continued hospital discharge delays, and increasing strain tied to EVV compliance as requirements tighten and claims become more closely tied to visit data. Workforce instability is also rising, with immigration-related uncertainty contributing to absenteeism and turnover in an already fragile labor market. At the same time, flat MassHealth rates—set against rising costs—are creating real financial pressure, reinforcing concerns about long-term sustainability and access. Licensure remains a key focus, but progress is unfolding within a broader environment of state and federal budget constraints. The takeaway is clear: these are system-level challenges, and provider input is critical in shaping how the Alliance responds.
