Description
Clinical Safety in the Home
October 27, 12:00 - 1:00 PM
This session shares the education and presentations used to keep clinicians safe in the home, and discusses the agency's Safety Committee programs. Attendees will leave with suggestions they can adapt into their own employee education programs and agency policies/processes.
The Case for a Structured Safety Program
- Common risks clinicians face in home settings (environmental, personal, clinical/exposure-related, driving/travel)
- Cost of not addressing it: turnover, injury, liability, morale
- Framing safety as both a policy issue and a culture issue
Education & Training Programs at Croí Health
- Overview of the education/presentations offered to clinicians
- Onboarding safety training
- Ongoing/recurring education (annual refreshers, in-services)
- Format(s) used (in-person, e-learning, huddles, etc.)
The Safety Committee
- Purpose and structure of the committee
- Membership/roles — who's involved and how
- Meeting cadence and how issues are surfaced (incident reports, staff concerns, near-misses)
- How the committee turns concerns into action (policy changes, new training, communication)
