AI in Home Care: What's Hype vs. What Actually Works
Session Description
AI is everywhere in home care headlines, but separating genuine operational impact from marketing hype has never been harder.
In this practical session, Jamie Gong will cover three things every agency leader needs to know:
- Which AI capabilities are actually delivering measurable results in home care today versus what's still in the “promise” phase.
- The workflow and team-adoption changes required to make AI tools actually work — because they're rarely plug-and-play.
- A practical framework for evaluating ROI, vendor claims, compliance considerations, software integration, and staff adoption.
Attendees will leave with real-world examples, common pitfalls to avoid, and concrete questions every agency owner should ask before signing a contract with an AI vendor.
Learning Objectives
- Distinguish which AI capabilities are consistently delivering measurable results in home care operations today — including recruiting, scheduling, and back-office workflows — versus those still in the “promise” phase.
- Recognize the workflow and team-adoption changes required to successfully implement AI tools and understand how AI-forward agencies are sequencing operational change during implementation.
- Apply a practical framework for evaluating AI ROI and assessing vendors on cost, compliance, software integration, and staff adoption before committing to a purchase.
Speaker Bio
Jamie Gong is the Founder and CEO of CareHero, an AI-powered workforce management platform purpose-built for home-based care.
Jamie isn't a technologist looking at home care from the outside; she built a home care business before focusing on practical technology solutions for operators. She trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Quincy College in Massachusetts, including clinical rotations at a skilled nursing facility, and has personally led the sourcing, screening, and onboarding of more than 2,000 caregivers across Massachusetts, Florida, and Texas.
That operational experience shapes every product decision at CareHero, which today partners with home care agencies nationwide to automate caregiver recruiting, screening, and other day-to-day workflows.
Jamie holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford. She frequently speaks with home care operators about applied AI, focusing on practical, non-hype perspectives that help agency leaders make informed technology decisions.
