Legislature to Reconsider Supplemental Home Care Funding

Home Care Funding Still Stalled as Legislature Delays Final Action

As we informed you last month, $60 million in supplemental funding to home care services through the Department of Aging and Independence (AGE) Home Care Program was making its way through the legislative process, but stalled. This funding aims to cover budgetary shortfalls within the program from previous fiscal years.

The House passed an over $500 million supplemental spending package in late May, but days later House and Senate lawmakers agreed to pare the bill down, pulling out the home care funding from the bill that Governor Healey signed into law. In mid-June, the State Senate advanced the remaining portions of the bill, including home care funding - but no further action has been taken since until this week when both chambers outlined a process to address these outstanding items for home care, hospitals and community health centers.

The HCA advocated for, and supported, this supplemental funding to cover deficits in the program line items and will continue to update members as the process unfolds.
